The 2017 Mazda CX-5 Has Arrived in Danvers
Mazda has never been a company known for mediocrity. No matter how celebrated their vehicles are, they never stop innovating, never stop tweaking every little feature in order to eke out even more improvements. What the layman considers perfect, Mazda considers an opportunity to exceed, and no Mazda vehicle more exemplifies this than the new 2017 Mazda CX-5. The Mazda CX-5 launched in 2012, and 2017 marks the release of the second generation.
New for 2017
Quiet Interior
The biggest thing you notice in the 2017 Mazda CX-5 is actually what you don’t notice. The 2017 Mazda CX-5 is notably quieter than its predecessor, a result of Mazda going over the vehicle with a fine-toothed comb to find things to improve. Mazda engineers found every possible way to reduce cabin noise in this new crossover SUB. They lowered the windshield wipers below the hood line. They replaced the plastic paneling with noise-reducing cloth paneling. Of course, they also completed the more obvious steps, such as thickening the glass in the windows, adding more insulation in the doors, and tightening the various seals on the Mazda CX-5.
Comfort
Mazda reworked some of the subtlest aspects in order to make the 2017 Mazda CX-5 more comfortable. After copious amounts of R&D, the inner door handles were slightly shifted to be closer to the driver, and the outer door handles were tweaked to be more ergonomically friendly. The steering wheel and pedal placements were redesigned to be more accessible for the driver. Mazda’s human-centric design emphasizes a vehicle where everything just feels right.
Performance
Of course, comfort is all well and good, but all the comfort in the world won’t help a vehicle that drives poorly. Fortunately, the 2017 Mazda CX-5 nails that as well. The 2.5-liter engine gives it 107 horsepower and 285 pound-feet of torque, and it is available with front or all-wheel drive. Mazda G-Vectoring Control comes standard, and it helps the 2017 Mazda CX-5 handle turns more smoothly. On top of that, the newly adjusted steering and transmission help the Mazda CX-5 handle like a dream.
Safety
Every model of Mazda CX-5 has received either a Top Safety Pick or a Top Safety Pick+ from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, and Mazda has tweaked the 2017 Mazda CX-5 to be even safer than its predecessors. With stiffer roof pillars, higher strength materials, and an overall stiffer body, the 2017 Mazda CX-5 is one of the safest vehicles on the road. The available predictive i-ACTIV AWD® lets the car run normally in forward-wheel drive for increased efficiency, yet automatically switches over to AWD for treacherous road conditions.
