Your modern Mazda vehicle’s advanced Mazda i-Activsense® safety system has several components. We go over the main ones here, some of which can be found on a certified pre-owned Mazda vehicle from our lot.
Navigating Medford roads in the dark may not always be easy. The AFS turns the headlights in the direction of the curve ahead, illuminating any possible obstacles so you can react accordingly. AFS optimizes the distribution of light from the headlights according to driving circumstances. Depending on vehicle speed and steering input, the system points the low-beam headlights in the direction you intend to travel.
The system allows you to choose between Lane-Trace, which provides steering assistance early in order to help keep the vehicle centered in the current lane, and Lane Departure Avoidance, which only activates if the vehicle begins to leave its current lane. LAS uses a windshield-mounted camera to recognize lane markings on the road and activates at speeds above 37 mph.
For maximum night-driving visibility in Stoneham, you’ll likely take advantage of your vehicle’s high beams. The HBC system uses an advanced camera system to recognize when an oncoming or preceding vehicle is in your general vicinity. The Mazda then automatically switches between high and low beams, depending on the situation. This means you can enjoy the greatest visibility without blinding drivers around you. You also won’t have to remember to dim the high beams suddenly.
MRCC is an advanced cruise control system utilizing a millimeter wave radar to judge the relative speed and distance to the car ahead of you on Danvers highways. Then, the system automatically accelerates and brakes in order to maintain a safe buffer distance between you and the other vehicle. This system also includes the Distance Recognition Support System (DRSS), which lets you know the exact distance between your Mazda and the vehicle in front of them.
The RVM system also utilizes radar to read the distance of a vehicle approaching from directly behind you and in the lanes beside your vehicle to make you aware of other vehicles in the area. You’ll also receive an audible and visual warning if the system detects an oncoming vehicle in a neighboring lane when your turn signal is on.
This system is much like the Mazda lane keep assist features. It uses an advanced camera system that reads lane markers to recognize when your vehicle is drifting out of its lane. It will send you a warning to help avoid a dangerous situation. If your vehicle’s turn signal is on when the lane departure occurs, then the LDWS warning does not engage.
Utilizing similar radar technology to the Rear Vehicle Monitoring System, FOW can recognize when there is a vehicle or obstruction directly in front of your vehicle. If this system senses that the distance between the front of your vehicle and the vehicle in front of you is decreasing, it will automatically send a visual and audible alert to warn you to brake immediately.
Smart City Brake Support can automatically apply the brakes when you’re driving in the city at low speeds to avoid or mitigate the impact of a head-on collision.
For select Mazda vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission, Acceleration Control for AT automatically sends a warning to you if the accelerator is pressed too hard while there is an obstruction in front of your Mazda.
